| Assoc. Prof. Junxiong Wang |
Junxiong Wang, Ph.D., male, native of Huanggang, Hubei Province, is an Associate Professor under the Shenzhen University "100 Talents Program". In recent years, his research has focused on the direct recycling of cathode materials for lithium batteries. He has proposed a direct regeneration mechanism based on the multi-level regulation of the crystal structure of cathode materials, establishing a series of methods for the direct recycling of spent cathode materials. His work promotes a revolutionary shift in battery recycling from "structural destruction of spent materials – element extraction – material resynthesis" to "direct repair of spent materials into regenerated materials". This significantly shortens the recycling process, avoids the use of extreme conditions such as high temperatures, acids, and alkalis found in traditional recycling methods, and greatly enhances the economic and environmental benefits of battery recycling. He has published over 20 SCI-indexed papers as the first author, co-first author, or corresponding author in journals including *Nature Sustainability*, *Nature Protocols*, *Nature Communications*, *Joule*, *Journal of the American Chemical Society*, *National Science Review*, *Advanced Materials*, and *Chemical Reviews*. His work has been cited over 6000 times, with 19 ESI Highly Cited Papers and 5 ESI Hot Papers. He has filed over 20 invention patent applications and has been granted more than 10 patents. His research achievements have been recognized with the Second Prize of the Natural Science Award from the Chinese Society of Particuology, the "2023 Best Paper Award" from the *National Science Review*, the Excellence Award in the Startup Group of the "Chuang Qingchun" Shenzhen Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and the Silver Medal at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions. |
